San Andreas, CA…With the start of April the political coverage will start rolling on ThePineTree.net as we head into the heart of the 2012 election cycle. We have heard in the past from some that grow soon weary of too much political coverage. So for this go round we tried to wait until two months leading up the June elections. So hopefully you will find coverage useful. In the next few weeks you will see interviews and yes advertisements from the contestants. As a kick off piece we thought we would dig into the archives and post a speech of Rico Oller from the 2009 Calaveras Economic Summit. Rico Oller, who represented Mono County first as a member of the State Assembly from 1996-2000 and then as a State Senator from 2000-2004, is running for State Assembly again this year in the newly created District 5.

Oller, a private businessman in the construction materials business who hails from Calaveras County, describes himself as a conservative Republican. “In this state, that makes me somewhat of an endangered species,” he says with a laugh.

San Andreas, CA – A former California lawmaker, who resides in San Andreas, plans to run for the new mountain county Assembly seat.

Oller says a main focus of his campaign will be trying to rollback business regulations. “I’m just tired of seeing jobs leaving California to go to Texas and Nevada because California has such silly and punitive laws, and regulations, related to business,” adds Oller. “It is really fortunate for Californians that the state legislature can’t regulate the weather, because I’m sure they’d do that too.”
